Good evening friends,

Market Recap
A super day for the markets on Friday as a better than an expected jobs report pushed the NASDAQ above its 50 SMA and closed there. This is a very important close and should turn this market into an uptrend once again. The impressive part of Friday's rally was that the NASDAQ closed at the high of the day with much better than average volume.

As you can see by tonight's NASDAQ chart, we are still facing some resistance so we may not go straight up from here. My guess is that we will probably consolidate at this level, maybe even dip back slightly to test the 50 SMA which should now act as support. Testing the 50 SMA once or twice would be healthy after the run-up over the last week. The NASDAQ can then continue to make new highs above the 2150 level that we saw in January.

Russell Small Cap Index
I also have a chart of the Russell small cap index tonight. As I predicted in a chart I had in the Bulletin in early March, this index is breaking out to new highs once again. For the past 10 months I have been saying small caps are the way to go, and I continue to believe we will be in great shape by holding these stocks for some time to come.

Small caps always lead new bull markets. The prior bull market's leading stocks will not lead again. New leaders will emerge in every new bull market and TASR is one of these new bull market leaders. This new Bull started a year ago and if you do not think TASR is the leader of the new Bull, then have a look at a yearly chart on this monster. There will be other leaders emerging as well; they will come from the small cap sector, you can bet on it.

There are many charts shaping up again and our watch list of long stocks is growing again. Forget shorting stocks at this point, there is just not enough reward for the risk. I have updated the short sheet and I will continue to do so once a week but this list should shrink as our long list grows.

Strike up the band (The Bollinger band)
I want to continue the discussion on indicators tonight by talking about Bollinger Bands.  This is yet another indicator that you can add to your arsenal. This indicator was developed by John Bollinger, hence the name.

Bollinger bands are actually a set of indicators, an upper and a lower, that are used to compare the volatility within a stock and its relative pricing level. There is also a 3rd line that makes up the last part of the indicator; it is called the center line. The center line is a simple moving average.

You have heard me talk about a stock trading in channels before. Bollinger bands are a graphical way of depicting the channel. The upper band is resistance in the stock, while the lower band is support. If you look at the bands on a chart, you will typically see the stock trading back and forth within the channel that is created by the Bollinger bands.

What typically starts to happen before movement in a stock is a tightening of the bands.  The stock begins to trade in a smaller trade range, and the bands reflect this by tightening.  They will move in closer to the trade range of the stock. Since this is a volatility indicator, as the volatility within the stock declines (the stock trades in a tight range) the bands naturally contract.

If you look at a stock that has either just broken out or has broken down, you will see just the opposite in the bands. They will have expanded out dramatically, reflecting the sudden volatility within the stock.

We can use the indicator to find a stock that is poised to make a move. Since no stock can sustain a wildly volatile trade range over time, we watch for the bands to tighten down.  You will see confirmation in the form of a break above or below the bands, coupled with a move in the price of the stock. You can also use the indicator in just the opposite way.  A stock whose bands are about as wide as they can get is a prime example of a stock that has overextended itself either positively or negatively. Since that stock can not maintain the extreme volatility over time, you can use the indicator to help identify stocks that are extremely oversold or extremely overbought.

Broken record time: You can not rely on one indicator to give you a clear picture of the possible movement in a stock, so do not put all of your faith in just the Bollinger bands. Some of you old timers may remember the classic song by The Moody Blues called “I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band”. When I hear that song now I change the words to reflect how a stock trader would sing the song “I'm just a trader using Bollinger Bands” You need to study several indicators to get the whole picture but once you get familiar enough with this indicators tune, it will be one of the bands you will often listen to.

Those OTC bb's stocks keep running.
- WWAT (up over 100% since mentioned 5 days ago)
- PLKC (tried to move Friday on 10 mil shares, looks like it could go soon)
- PRGF (closed at high)
- GDLS (up 200% since mentioned here)
Some others for your watch list include, UGHO, BPWRF, CTTV, ERHC, SPSC, IGYM, and DLGI.

As always, thank you for your support past, present and future! Have a great night everyone; we'll see you all Tomorrow evening.
